An 18th Century Cape and a 21st Century Barn Home Unite

An 18th Century cape and a 21st Century Yankee Barn home unite to create one spectacular New England farmhouse. The young family of accomplished equestrians wanted their home to fit their lifestyle and look the part. They love to spend free time riding their horses and boating on Lake Winnipesauke.

Riding is such a large part of this family’s life that when it came time to add on to their cape, they knew a barn-style addition would be a natural fit for their cape style farmhouse. The addition had to be respectful of the past as the couple wanted to respect the architecture of the 18th Century cape. The connector from old to new had to feel authentic; the overall look of the two structures needed to blend seamlessly. Yankee Barn Homes accomplished the task beautifully.

From the pastures in the rear of the house, a deck off the connector as well as a gorgeous stone wall patio are  visible.

The look for the interior of the addition was meticulously planned to compliment the farmhouse and horse barn themes.

The farmhouse style kitchen has also been designed to reflect the horse barn with it’s rough-sawn beams and rustic, yet 21st Century, decor.
